I WAS saddened by the news that a statue has been made of Diana, Princess of Wales, portraying her as the Madonna, the mother of Jesus.
As a whole, we seem to be a lost society - having no direction, no foundation, and being blown by the winds of change (whatever is the latest thing or idea at the moment).
Since her death, some people seem to have latched on to the idea of Diana being almost a saint. This seems to reflect an innate need for people to worship, but unfortunately their worship is sometimes directed towards the wrong things, whether 'money' or 'false idols.'
I think society needs a firm foundation and a fixed point on which to fasten its gaze. For Christians, this fixed point, which never waivers as the whims of society do, is Jesus.
At a time like the present, when we are nearing the new millennium, Jesus' 2000th birthday, our allegiance to Christ should be even stronger.
