A NEW ante-natal day unit has been opened at Queen's Park Hospital, Blackburn.
The unit is the latest in a number of changes designed to improve maternity care.
The purpose built-unit and a new medical records department were opened by Clare Harding, ante-natal teacher for the National Childbirth Trust.
The unit will provide care during pregnancy for women who have complications in late pregnancy or need specialist testing or investigations.
It contains five treatment and consultation rooms and a mother and baby room, and women will be seen in the unit rather than being admitted to the wards.
