A YOUNG girl was killed and six other people were injured when the car they were travelling in crashed on a moorland road.
The dead girl, a three-year-old from Hebden Bridge, was in a Volvo when it left the road between Burnley and Todmorden at 7.40pm yesterday.
It crashed into fencing in Kebs Road, Kebcote, near Todmorden. Police said those involved came from Nelson and Hebden Bridge.
A boy and a girl were seriously injured and were in a stable condition in Burnley General Hospital today. The other people who were in the car, including at least two adults, were discharged from the hospital after treatment.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said no other vehicle was involved. He added: "It is unclear at this stage what caused it to leave the road.
"The three-year-old suffered fatal injuries and a boy and a girl are still being treated in hospital. The rest were discharged after treatment."
Police were waiting to inform relatives before releasing the names of those involved.
The road, which leads to the Long Causeway route between Burnley and Todmorden, was closed for more than two hours.
West Yorkshire Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to contact them on 01484 405259.
