STACEY Houldsworth continued her progress towards a possible place in the Olympics with second and third place finishes at the British Winter Swimming championships in Sheffield.
The Hyndburn teenager was third in Saturday's 400m freestyle, behind 16-year-old Rebecca Cooke, from Reading, and Vicki Horner.
But she went one better yesterday to clinch second place in the 800m, again behind Cooke who is reaping the benefits of an increased workload in training.
Stacey said: "I was happy with second but wasn't happy with my time.
"I am trying to work on tactics at the monent and it is just part of the learning curve."
Stacey has just switched clubs, from Burnley Bobcats to Rochdale Aquabears, and is expecting her own new training regime to provide some benefit before her next long-course meeting in February.
