SIR Cliff Richard's entry in the charts - and its apparent success, pushes one into the contrasting feelings of liking it, or loathing it.
A cobbled mix of 'The Lord's Prayer' and 'Auld Lang Syne' may fit together, but many people can't get away from the feeling that he has utilised two brilliant pieces, in an effort to gain more fame, or make use of them for commercialisation.
It's not the tune or the lyrics that bring about the strong feelings, but haven't we all used these before on religious ceremonies, or New Year's festivities?
It makes one uneasy to think that more of the same could happen in the future, maybe with 'Abide With Me,' the usual Wembley Cup Final song, set to a tune by some pop group or other.
Cliff is an undoubted top singing star, but I feel this time he may have touched a few nerves with this rendition.
