TONY Parkes insists that he wants striker Matt Jansen to stay at Ewood Park.
But the Rovers boss admitted that the player's advisers may have different ideas about Jansen's long-term prospects with Blackburn.
Parkes dismissed transfer talk linking Jansen with a possible move to Leeds United and confirmed he is not looking to off-load the the former Crystal Palace forward, who joined Rovers for £4.1 million January but has not started a game under the new manager.
"His agent may be looking to move him on, but I'm certainly not," said Parkes, who confirmed that Jansen would not be following Jason Wilcox to Elland Road.
"Leeds have just taken Jason Wilcox to their club and I think the first you knew about that was when Jason actually signed.
"So if Leeds are interested they wouldn't be doing it this way. So it's just a complete load of rubbish," he added.
And the speculation has prompted a similar reaction from the Premiership leaders.
Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale said: "It is absolutely rubbish. Some people are dreaming.
"David O'Leary and I did talk about Jansen some weeks ago but David said he didn't want him."
Of more pressing concern to Parkes is tomorrow night's FA third-round replay with West Bromwich Albion at Ewood Park.
And Rovers will have to try and book a fourth-round trip to Liverpool without the services of central defender Darren Peacock.
Peacock missed Sunday's defeat at Sheffield United with flu. And he has not recovered enough for Parkes to even consider a return, which means young defender Martin Taylor is likely to retain his place alongside Christian Dailly in the centre of defence.
Simon Grayson is the latest player to be hit by the bug, and he will be checked again tomorrow morning.
Parkes, who has struggled through a bout of illness himself, confirmed: "I think Darren won't play. He's got a bad case of the flu and we'll have to have a look at Simon Grayson tomorrow.
"We've had a week to 10 days of this, having to check on players and them going home for two days and then coming back in and having a bit of a relapse.
"So it's not been a very good build-up, certainly to last Sunday's game and to this one."
Jason McAteer will play tomorrow night but his sending off at Sheffield United on Sunday, for which he has apologised to Parkes and his team-mates, is likely to rule him out of a return to Anfield if Rovers make it through to the last 32.
He received an automatic red card for his verbal attack on the linesman which will mean a two-game suspension.
Meanwhile, West Bromwich Albion have tried to calm their troubled waters before tomorrow night's clash. Their directors are convinced that they can persuade manager Brian Little to stay in charge at the Hawthorns.
Little is believed to be waiting until Albion appoint a new chairman to replace Tony Hale - with Sheffield businessman Paul Thompson the favourite to take over - before making a statement on his position.
Little, who only took charge at Albion in August, had cast a doubt over his position at the end of last week in the wake of the sale of winger Kevin Kilbane to Sunderland for £2.5 million.
But Albion director Jim Driscoll said: "I don't think Brian will walk out. I spoke to him on Friday evening and he says he is in the right place and wants to do the job."
Keith Brown's move to Barnsley was completed yesterday.
Brown, who is 20 on Christmas Day, failed to break into the first team picture at Ewood.
The Scottish youth international cost Barnsley a down-payment of £100,000 which could rise to £200,000 depending on appearances.
Brown has already had a loan spell under Dave Bassett in which he played four games for the Yorkshire club.
Former winger Ian Miller has been promoted from the Academy staff to take charge of the reserves. That frees Terry Darracott to take on the full-time post of Parkes' assistant.
