LIFELONG Blackburn Rovers supporter Nellie Whitehead had a fan-tastic celebration to mark her 100th birthday.
Nellie, who is thought to be one of the club's oldest fans, had a memorable day at the party at Cornelian House in Blackburn, where she is a resident.
She was joined by her three children Norman, Helen and Peter, as well as grandchildren Ina and Katherine and great-grand daughter Alexandra. Her grand daughter Susan also visited, with her husband Michael.
She had a special visit from Blackburn Rovers representatives Nick Jackson-Cooney, assistant community officer, and community coaches Scott Parsons, Andrew McNally and Eddie Sulley. She was given a blue and white balloon and a birthday cake which was donated by Sandersons Confectioners, of Blackburn.
Daughter Helen, of Green Lane, Blackburn, said: "She had an idea that someone was coming from Blackburn Rovers, and she had quite a number of surprise visitors.
"The children of her friends who have died still keep in touch, and she had visits from her neighbours where she used to live in Bolton Road. Her friends in the home were also invited so it was quite a hectic party.
"She had a wonderful birthday and she really enjoyed it. She's also looking forward to seeing the next millennium."
Nellie was married to Lawrence Whitehead, who has now died, and worked as a weaver in her younger days.
