FLYING winger Damien Duff will again be out to repay Tony Parkes' faith and help Rovers land a glamour tie at Liverpool by beating West Bromwich Albion at Ewood Park tonight.

The prize for victory in tonight's third-round FA Cup replay is a televised clash at Anfield in the last 32.

And Duff will be looking to supply the ammunition from the left flank for Rovers to shoot down the Baggies at the second attempt, after the First Division rivals drew 2-2 at the Hawthorns 11 days ago.

That might not have been the case a couple of months ago as Duff struggled to hold down a regular place in the Blackburn line-up under previous boss Brian Kidd.

But since moving into the hot-seat, Parkes has made Duff one of his key players and underlined the importance of his role by agreeing to sell wing rival Jason Wilcox to Leeds United last week.

"It's good to be back in the side," Duff admitted.

"I was in and out while Brian Kidd was here but Tony Parkes has showed some confidence in me and told me to go out there and do my stuff.

"I don't want to say anything bad about Brian Kidd, it's just that I didn't play as much as I wanted to. I'm young and he liked to rest me.

"But Tony Parkes is playing me every week. Tony has got a lot of confieence in me and it's just great to be out there playing. He doesn't complicate things. I just go out there and play my normal game, take people on and get crosses in.

"And when you're in the team and we are winning it's good to be about the place."

Wilcox's sale to Leeds confirmed Duff's place in the pecking order at Ewood. But the Republic of Ireland international claimed that despite their battle for the shirt, he was still sorry to see Wilcox go.

Duff added: "For the past couple of seasons Jason and myself have been fighting for the same place. Really I suppose one had to go and it could have been me.

"The board decided to let him go but it was unfortunate to see him go because there was always great competition between me and him for the place."

Duff was back in the Rovers side for the weekend reverse at Sheffield United following hamstring problems and a bout of illness.

And he is optimistic that Rovers can get over their first defeat in nine games to progress in the Cup.

"I thought we were cruising until Jason got sent off and I thought we would have won.

"We were playing really well but it's always going to be difficult with 10 men and hopefully we will bounce back and we are all confident we can do it."

Duff added: "The FA Cup gives everybody a thrill. It's the biggest cup competition in the world. I've missed out twice in the games we've had at West Brom because of injury but hopefully I'll be in tonight and I'll do the business.

"It would be brilliant to play Liverpool. It's at Anfield and hopefully we will get there. It would be a great day for the team and for the fans."
