AFTER watching the BBC2 programme 'The Dome - Trouble at the Big Top,' on December 16, I am astounded that Peter Mandelson and Michael Heseltine still believe and support the project.

We often hear about 'follies' that have been built, but I think this must be the biggest yet. After listening to the various groups, committees, etc, I found very few, if any, with any commitment to Jesus Christ who is, after all, or should be, the centre of it.

Despite the media trying to push it down our throats that Christianity is on the down slope - according to the attendance figures of the established churches, the Church of England, Roman Catholics, Methodists, etc - there are many, many Christians in cell groups, house groups and house churches, who find fellowship and worship with each other in Christ.

These are mainly people who have a desire to worship and serve without ritual, money-raising and the many little things that have been added on.

The church is people, not buildings - people matter more than things.

Many people have shut God and Christ out of their lives. This is sad, but Christ still welcomes them.

Regarding the Millennium Dome, I am reminded of the words of Psalm 127, Verse 1: "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labour in vain, those who build it."

I don't believe Christ has been invited in. The Dome has little, if anything, to do with Christianity.
