I HAVE been interested to read the recent responses to my earlier letter regarding horse manure on the Outwood Trail in Radcliffe and the viaduct bridge over the Irwell.
I was really only complaining about the mess on the viaduct bridge itself because, as one correspondent rightly stated, it is a cement and tarmacadam structure and therefore the offending droppings would just remain there until it was washed away by severe weather.
One correspondent suggests that I could provide a solution. Well I can. We have bins for dog mess so why not one provided by the local authority on the viaduct bridge for horses. As for disposal of the manure, it could be spread over adjacent land where the trees and shrubs could benefit.
I was not complaining about manure on the trail itself. After all, I do like the horses and I do not have any quarrel with the riders. But a suitable recepticle would surely solve the problem.
