ACCRINGTON Stanley have put in seven days' notice for Great Harwood Town forward Martin Aspinwall as they look to increase their attacking options, writes PETE OLIVER.

Aspinwall is enjoying an impressive first season at Harwood and Stanley obviously believe the player, who was playing in the Accrington Combination last season, can make the step up to the UniBond League.

Harwood boss Denis Underwood feels Aspinwall, who can play in a wide position or as a central striker, would benefit from staying in the First North Western Trains League for a little longer but that could depend on what the player wants to do.

"He's on a contract with us and if he wants to give it a go I'm sure we can sort something out with Accrington. We'll keep the thing bubbling over and see what happens," said Underwood.

Nothing will happen before Monday afternoon, however, when Stanley, without a goal in two games and still missing player-boss John Coleman through injury, entertain third-placed Radcliffe Borough at the Crown Ground.

Stanley are looking to get back to winning ways after losing for the first time in seven First Division outings at Workington last week and assistant manager Jimmy Bell may return to the starting line-up. CHORLEY entertain improving Farsley Celtic on Monday when they will again be hoping to pick up a much-needed home win.

The Magpies have won only one league game at Victory Park this season, while picking up maximum points seven times on their travels.

"It's something we have discussed with the staff and the players and it's a problem we need to address in the second part of the season," admitted boss Ken Wright.

"Farsley are a big strong side and they won't come here and lie down. But we know what to expect and our form isn't bad at the moment, so I'm reasonably optimistic that we can put our home form right by beating Farsley. If we do that we will be up there with the pack."

Ian Leather will be available for the first time in over a month and Paul Fleming is also expected to be fit provided he doesn't suffer any reaction to the removal of a toe-nail today.

However, Tony Gaffney is doubtful with an ankle injury which kept him out of training this week.

Farsley may include ex-Chorley and York City striker Ian Blackstone.
