ST ANNES Parish Operatic and Dramatic Society (pictured) scooped five awards at the NODA awards dinner at Blackpool's Imperial Hotel.
Mandy Squire received the overall Best Pantomime Winning Production award for her production of last year's Snow White, and Debbie Couchman picked up the Most Entertaining award for her performance as the wicked queen.
The all singing, all dancing, all Gershwin, Crazy For You, collected three awards. A Best Choreographed award went to Sue Armstrong, the Best Female Operatic Lead went to Sarah Jane Stone and Pam Eve collected the overall operatic Best Production award.
This year's annual pantomime, Mother Goose, is set to be another smash hit and promises more fun and laughs than ever. It is an unusual pantomime because it is the only one where the leading character is the dame. Even more unusual, the heroine - Mother Goose - is shown to be a less than perfect person. When tempted by the Demon of Discontent, she sacrifices her best friend, Priscilla the goose, in exchange for beauty.
Of course it all ends well with plenty of thrills and spills along the way.
The production is in the capable hands of Phil Hemming, joined by Simon Timson as musical director. To pantomime regulars it will come as no surprise that Peter Hall takes the title role of Mother Goose. Over the years Peter has made the "dame" his own - he has even built up his own fan club. Philip Baddeley plays the Demon of Discontent, and playing opposite Philip is Una Bird as the good fairy.
