A MILLENNIUM family day with entertainment for all ages will be Hyndburn's biggest event of the year, says the council.

The event in Accrington on Sunday, January 9, from noon to 5.30pm will finish in a giant firework display.

There will be street entertainers, Ossy Cloggers, Hyndburn Concert Band, Salvation Army Band, Zambura Samba Band, mini ice skating and children's fairground rides.

Entertainment will take place at regular half-hourly intervals in Broadway, Union Street, Arndale Centre, outside the market hall and outside the town hall. In the town hall there will be four one-hour sessions with four different entertainment areas running simultaneously.

They will include Chirpy the Clown's Magical Comedy Show, John Garland's 'All Star' Puppets, games, competitions and face painting.

Sessions are at noon, 1.15pm, 2.30pm and 3.45pm.

The finale will be an aerial fireworks display fired from the roof of the Arndale Shopping Centre car park at 5pm.

The display will be presented by Millennium Pyrotechnics from Preston who did a display on the Christmas lights switch-on evening.
