ST HELENS Euro MP, Terry Wynn, chairman of the European Parliament's Budget Committee, has been asked to find compensation for British beef farmers and exporters in the light of the French ban.
Mr Wynn said: "British Labour MPs have approached Nicole Fontaine, the EP president, about this issue so she has now written to me seeking help.
"I am now looking for funding from the European Commission although I still think it should be the French who should be paying the compensation to our farmers. However, if we can alleviate some of the hardships in the meantime then we will do our best."
