JIMMY McILROY admits he will have a few pre-match nerves before gracing the Turf Moor pitch again tomorrow.
The Clarets legend will officially cut the ribbon to open the stand named in his honour before Burnley kick-off against Oxford United.
And to mark the last match at Turf Moor of this millenium, McIlroy will be joined in a pre-match parade by the bulk of the 1959-60 League Championship-winning squad.
"I will be more nervous tomorrow than I have ever been in a match I have played in. But I am looking forward to meeting up with the rest of the team again," said the former Northern Ireland international, who made 497 appearances for the Clarets in their glory years and is widely regarded as Burnley's finest-ever player.
Burnley are planning to see out the millenium in style and the re-appearance of many of the Clarets' most famous players will provide a fitting way of marking the occasion. Veronica Simpson, secretary of ex-Clarets in Sport, has headed up the operation of bringing the former greats back to Turf Moor.
And she has succeeded in securing an impressive line-up. Adam Blacklaw, Tommy Cummings, Brian Miller, hopefully John Connelly, McIlroy, Ray Pointer, Jimmy Robson, Brian Pilkington, Alex Elder, Billy White and Trevor Meredith, who scored the title-winning goal at Maine Road, are all scheduled to appear to rekindle some golden memories.
"It has been quite difficult but it's been a real success story that we have managed to contact every single member of the squad. They are really looking forward to it. "It will be an excellent day and the atmosphere will be electric."
The Ex-Clarets in Sport will also be hosting a special dinner in May to mark the 40th-anniversary of the title triumph.
The nostalgia will continue tomorrow when coach Joe Brown and ex-players Gerry McEvoy, Eddie Cliff, Mick Docherty, Peter Jones, Dave Hartley, Wilf Wrigley and hopefully Dave Thomas will represent the Clarets' 1968 FA Youth Cup-winning team.
The club is asking supporters to be inside the ground by 2.30pm.
