AS the Millennium approaches and experts predict big changes in the way we live, the holiday rush to the sales shows old habits die hard.
The thought of battling through the crowds to find a bargain and queuing for ages to find a parking spot ought to be a strong deterrent against venturing out of doors in the depth of winter.
But as shoppers again turned out in droves all across the country, the conclusion must be that we actually love taking part in this annual spending spree - either that, or we really do believe that when it comes to being stuck in front of the TV and having yet another turkey tea, you can have too much of a good thing.
