STEVE Marsden, managing director of Nelson-based Marsden Engineering, has always maintained that it is the people within an organisation who make it successful.
To prove his point the company aimed for, and achieved, the prestigious Investor In People national standard.
Steve said his philosophy was to listen to his workforce, regularly update their skills and knowledge through training and to regularly review their performances.
"Consequently the company has evolved into a £1 million business which genuinely cares for employees and customers alike," he added.
The company has 20 staff at its base on the Lomeshaye industrial estate, producing metal pressings predominantly for the automotive industry.
Marsden Engineering is one of over 550 East Lancs firms to recognise the importance of the Investor In People standard.
