A TIME capsule looking back over the last 100 years of village life will be buried alongside a bench unveiled to mark the new millennium.
Parish councillors from Dunnockshaw, between Burnley and Rawtenstall, gathered at Manchester Road play area yesterday to reveal the wooden bench.
The bench was made by self-employed joiner Sean Cronshaw, son of parish councillor Brenda Cronshaw.
Donations from Burnley Council and local engineering firm Sermatech Mal Tool helped towards meeting its £400 cost.
The bench has the date 2000 machined across the back and a brass plaque explaining its significance.
In the spring, parish councillors plan to bury a time capsule near to the bench. Councillor Mike Johnson said: "It's a project for later in the new year. We've got parish council records dating back over the last 100 years and we wanted to put something from the present in as well to mark the next 100 years."
