THREE East Lancashire athletes finished in the top 20 of Monday's Wansfell race at Ambleside.
Highest finisher was University student Jonathan Taylor, son of Clayton stalwart Phil Taylor who has moved to Ambleside recently.
Jonathan finished just four seconds ahead of team-mate Dave Walker as the pair won 14th and 15th places in the 2.5-mile fell race. Stuart Sumner, the only Rossendale Harrier in the race, took 20th in a race won by Rob Hope of Pudsey and Bramley. Hope completed a notable double having won the Whinberry Naze at Rawtenstall the previous day.
Results (Clayton unless stated): 1 Rob Hope (Pudsey & Bramley) 20.05, 14 Jonathan Taylor 23.29, 15 Dave Walker 23.33, 20 Stuart Sumner (Rossendale) 24.47, 25 Mark Nutter 25.17, 31 Simon Clark 26.29, 38 Martin Brady 27.03, 43 Pete Browning 27.13, 54 Andy Firth 28.44.
