HUNDREDS of pop and soccer fans waited patiently for a glimpse of their heroes when Manchester United star Phil Neville married his Rossendale sweetheart Julie Killelea.
And the crowds were not disappointed when Posh Spice Victoria Beckham turned up at Rawtenstall with her husband David at yesterday's wedding.
The Spice Girl stole the show with a revealing outfit despite the chill East Lancashire weather, but the biggest cheer of the day was reserved for treble winning Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Julie, 24, of Chapel Hill, Rawtenstall, has been dating the 22-year-old defender for two years and the couple tied the knot at St James the Less Church in Burnley Road.
A crowd of more than 500 braved the rain and cold and were rewarded with a view of scores of soccer stars.
Security men stopped the crowds from getting near the church and the bride's arrival was kept from public gaze with the help of a specially constructed white marquee.
The couple have signed a deal with OK magazine reported to be worth around £400,000 and the bride was hidden from cameras and bystanders.
Among the guests were Britain's highest paid footballer Roy Keane, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer , who scored the winning goal in the European cup final, Andy Cole, Jaap Stam and Ryan Giggs.
Press photographers were kept at bay behind fences and with the help of the police.
First to arrive was England midfielder Paul Scholes clutching his baby Aaron Jake, closely followed by his team mate and Phil's older brother Gary. Former United stars at the ceremony included defenders Steve Bruce and Gary Pallister and Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson.
Phil, 23, arrived with his two best men, Reading striker Grant Bebner and semi-professional footballer Dave Gardner.
Julie, daughter of millionaire builder Bob, chose her sister Amanda, a Lancashire Evening Telegraph Reporter, and best friend Tara Bezborauh as bridesmaids.
More than 25 police officers kept the crowds at bay and tried to keep the traffic flowing through Rawtenstall.
Police were warning motorists to stear clear of the area and traffic was held up in both directions for several hours.
Scott Eastwood and his girlfriend Rachel Bannister, from Rawtenstall, brought their children Zak, 2, and Ashleigh, 3, along to see the stars.
Scott said: "I am a big football and a Spice Girls fan and I wouldn't have missed this for anything.
"It is not every day you get something like this happening in Rawtenstall."
Around 250 guests were at the church and travelled to Manchester for a glittering reception at the Midland Hotel.
