COMMUNITY groups in East Lancashire have been given grants of more than £30,000 from the Millennium Festival Awards For All.
The scheme, which helps groups with awards of between £500 and £5,000, will benefit eight organisations in the area.
Crawshawbooth over 60s club will get £720 to fund a day trip, including transport and meals, for 50 older people; Inclognito clog dancers have been given £4,769; Salford Roman Catholic Diocesan Youth Service will get £1,010 to fund environmental awareness workshops in Hyndburn and Clayton and Altham Community Association will get £5,000.
Chorley and District Arts Association will receive £5,000 to create a millennium musical and Burnley-based Al-Nisa will get £5,000 for a project to train Asian women in counselling and community development.
The Chorley Well Women Centre will receive £3,780 buy books, video tapes, publicity leaflets and pay for advertising costs.
Corio Raptor Care and Rehabilitation, based in Craven, will get £3,778 to buy a computer, printer, scanner, digital camera, CD writer and additional software.
The North West has received 484 awards worth more than £1.5million through the Millennium Festival Awards for All scheme since September 1999.
