JACK Walker today assured Blackburn Rovers fans that he has no intention of pulling the plug on the club's finances.

"If I say I'm doing something, I bloody well do it. I have no intention of changing my original plans," said Walker.

The Ewood Park owner poured around £30 million into the club in the last financial year.

But Rovers still lost nearly £8 million and are prepared for further heavy losses this year because of relegation from the Premiership. And that prompted Walker to call on other people to do their bit.

He said: "I am hoping we will go up this season but, if we don't, I will still be supporting the club.

"I'm not happy about the losses, but it's up to us to get into that Premier League.

"If we don't shape ourselves, though, I can't go on forever. Why don't others penny throw their penny into the pot?"

Walker also revealed that chief executive John Williams had volunteered to sacrifice his contractual annual pay-rise if Rovers did not achieve promotion this year.

"John Williams is doing a cracking job. He has refused to take a pay-rise if we don't get promoted.

"So he has put his money where his mouth is," added Walker.

The Rovers supremo has been angered by suggestions that his commitment to the club is wavering.

He said: "Why do people worry about something that's never happened? People shouldn't be nosy. As far I'm concerned, I'm just as committed.

"I want the club to be self-supporting and I will stay with it. "We are doing the right deals. We weren't pushing the sale of Jason Wilcox to Leeds - it came out of the blue. We had no intention of selling him.

"But he is 28 and we've got Damien Duff at home, and he has been man of the match three times since Wilcox went. And look at our squad. The wage bill is five or six times some of the First Division sides and we have got to think about that. But that's not Parkes' problem.

"We are not panicking. But we do need to sell one or two players - we have five centre backs for instance.

"In another two years' time we want to be getting some lads out of the Academy. That's why there was no limits barred funding for the Academy."

Rovers today denied a reported interest in Birmingham keeper Ian Bennett.
