CLITHEROE boss Steve Parry was delighted with his side's performance as they kept up the pressure on FNWT League Division One leaders Vauxhall GM.

Goals from Lee Sculpher and Neil Spencer continued the Blues' remarkable winning streak which has seen them victorious in their last eight league matches.

With most sides around Clith- eroe holding games in hand over them, Parry's men knew this was a game they had to win, especially against the team just a place behind them in the table.

After a goalless first half, the visitors took the lead less than a minute after the break, Sculpher firing home to break the deadlock.

However, with 15 minutes to go it looked as if Town would snatch a point, Darren Twigg forcing the ball over the line from a corner to keep the home side in with a shout of victory.

But Clitheroe's lead was restored just three minutes later, Spencer earning his side a deserved win from a tough match.

Parry was understandably buoyant after the game, remaining confident of promotion after a classy performance.

"This was an important game given the league situation" said Parry. "We are on a great run at the moment and if we can keep that going then promotion is a realistic ambition.

"It was a good game to watch, both sides playing good football as always and obviously a pleasing result. They like to defend and hit you on the break, but thankfully we didn't let them do that and we claimed the three points."
