PLANS for a hot food takeaway in Longridge have been thrown out by Ribble Valley Councillors.
The proposals sought to change an electrical shop into a hot food takeaway at 89 Berry Street.
Planning officers John Macholc told members of the council's planning and development committee that 52 letters had been received - 12 of which were in support and 40 in opposition.
Objectors protested that the village already has a sufficient number of takeaways, noise, odour and rubbish levels would increase, parking is already a problem and that the proposed shop is situated between homes. But supporters said that the new business would encourage competition and provide more choice for customers.
The plans were refused on the grounds that residents of nearby properties would be affected by increased levels of noise and disturbance.
