WORKERS today claimed more than 20 people at a haulage firm have lost their jobs.

Drivers and mechanics at Stuart Taylor International Transport, of Mellor Brook, were told not to return to work this week. It is understood the firm is now no longer trading.

A senior member of staff at the firm, who did not want to be named, said he thought around 24 people had lost their jobs.

"I locked up for the last time there yesterday. There isn't anyone working there now," he said.

Some workers say they are still owed wages for their last week's work at the Balderstone-based firm.

Stuart Taylor was not available for comment.
