A CHURCH which wrote to every household in its town in a plea for funds has raised £1,750 as a result.
The Rev Chris Cousins, of All Saints' Church, Clayton-Le-Moors, said: "This is a magnificent first-off effort and the finance committee are most grateful for the help of many parishioners and local firms who helped."
Parishioners hope that tax refunds on some of the gifts will boost the total to more than £2,000.
