A JUNIOR psychiatry doctor at Burnley General Hospital has received a new shield for his training achievements during the last six months.
Spanish doctor Ricardo Sainz, who is based at the Lamont Clinic, was the first person to be presented with the Henry Stordy shield and a certificate in what will become a six-monthly event.
Consultant psychiatrist and clinical director Dr Michael Lawner decided to create the shield when Mr Stordy, of Carlisle, the father of one of his patients, died.
The family and friends chose to make donations to the clinic instead of buying flowers for the funeral and the money was spent on awarding and encouraging junior doctors at the clinic.
The widow of Henry Stordy, Elizabeth Stordy, and other family members and friends attended the presentation ceremony at the Lamont Clinic.
