POLICE have issued a warning against pushy double-glazing salesmen whose tactics have upset people in Clayton-le-Moors.

Two elderly residents from the Burnley Road area of town contacted police after they were visited by salesmen claiming to be from a double glazing firm on Monday evening.

A spokesman for Great Harwood CID said: "The residents were very worried about the approach used.

"The men did not show any identification, so we are not sure whether they are genuine salesmen. They used extreme pressure tactics to try and get people to sign on the dotted line.

"People should be very cautious about unannounced callers and they should not let anyone into their homes until they know they are genuine.

"Also people should not feel under any pressure to sign up - do not sign anything unless you are totally sure. Ask for a few days to read information about what is on offer, and call relatives, your solicitor or the police for advice."

Both callers were white men. One was about 35 years old with short dark hair and a gold earring. The other was in his late 20s and wore a baseball cap.

Anyone who receives a suspicious call should call Great Harwood Police on 01254 884800.
