A TOURIST boss has slammed millennium projects that are behind schedule or that have been abandoned altogether.
North West Tourist Board chairman Anthony Goldstone wants the Millennium Commission to review its planning procedures to ensure that projects across East Lancashire go ahead.
Mr Goldstone said: "The current wave of public humiliation has resulted from a distinct lack of planning in the early stages of these millennium projects."
He said that the Millennium Commission should take urgent action to make sure that projects are sustainable and will not need extra funding or be abandoned.
"At the moment we are sending out the wrong message concerning British competence in planning and delivering. Foresight and a clear vision of the long-term costs of any millennium project will prevent further public embarrassment," Mr Goldstone added.
