MANY years ago I was driving down George Street in order to park in the car park opposite the cinema.
A policeman stopped me at the end of the road and informed me that George Street was now access only.
She did not wish to believe that I was heading for the car park and took my name and address.
I was subsequently fined £5 as were hundreds of other people during the following two weeks.
Now I see people using George Street all the time, ignoring the 'access only' sign and using it as a quick short cut.
Does nobody ever get stopped any more for this practice?
We were given no warning of the sudden change at the time and the fines were unnecessary and unfair - although very profitable for somebody.
