IN respect of a recent article in the Citizen, I would like to answer the letter as under:-
Give horses the right they deserve!
In response to the letter of January 27 headed "Dog's Life For Police Horses" it is beyond all reason that any rider of horses could possibly be able to "clean up" after them. Are we supposed to carry round with us a shovel and bucket! Police horses do a marvellous job at crowd control and other tasks and are a pleasure to see on the roads, it's a pity we do not see them more often, and give them the praise they deserve. Horses are forced to be ridden on our roads at a great risk to both horse and rider due to lack of bridle-ways.
I speak from experience! and there are some very inconsiderate drivers about who seem to enjoy going very fast past them, scaring us both to death
After all horses were on the roads long before vehicles.
Please give horses a fair chance. I would be very grateful if you would publish this letter.
