REGARDING reports of a lack of interest and a poor turn out by the electorate at the recent local election (Citizen, January 27). Some perspective voters probably forgot, just as I nearly did until about teatime.
When I arrived at the deserted Polling Station I remarked on the lack of a loudspeaker van which can be a good reminder. During the day I listened to the local radio station but I never heard any mention of the local election taking place and nobody knocked on my door. Finally, lots of pensioners have an intercom fitted. Apparently these were silent all day. I think some sort of reminder is needed on voting day.
