A GRANDFATHER from Fulwood died after suffering a heart attack at the wheel of his car, alongside his six-year-old granddaughter.
Police suspect 72-year-old Albert Hough suffered a heart attack at the wheel of his Ford Sierra before losing control of the car and colliding with a lamp post on the Preston-bound carriageway of the Kirkham bypass shortly after 4pm on Saturday.
Emma Hough escaped unharmed from from the crash and was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment for shock.
Mr Hough was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A spokesman from Blackpool's road traffic police unit said: "The car was travelling towards Preston when it appeared to leave the carriageway for no apparent reason.
"No other cars were involved in the incident.
"We would like anyone who was driving along the road at the time to contact us."
