SOUTH Ribble chief executive Phil Halsall is quitting after landing a top job at Liverpool City Council.
Phil, who joined the council in 1996, has been appointed as the city council's new director of resources. His £110,000-a-year job includes being responsible for controlling Liverpool's billion-pound budget.
Bass-playing, jazz enthusiast Phil, 41, is one of a number of 'superbosses' appointed as part of a radical shake-up of the city council. He said: "There can't be a bigger challenge in the country than turning around Liverpool."
Phil studied accountancy in Liverpool, then worked for the international management consultancy Coopers and Lybrand before coming to South Ribble.
