A HAYDOCK-based motorbike racer is aiming to leave the competition trailing in his wake.
And he's calling on local businesses to join him in the quest for success.
John Carroll (27) competes in 125cc Open Class Grand Prix motorbike races and of the four he took part in last season, he won one and came second in the others.
However, his old team, Al Gibbon Racing, recently disbanded and although he was able to buy his bike, he now needs help to cover the cost of its upkeep and competing in tournaments.
John, a glass fabricator with Wigan firm, Conservatory Smiths, told the Star: "I was first in last year's Derby Phoenix tournament and came second in the Anglesey Championships, the Darley Moor Open and Formula Darley Championships.
"But I'm not with a team this year so I need some form of sponsorship to help me compete. I have had some sponsorship from Conservatory Smiths which will help with tyre upkeep and also had help from Boundary Graphics in St Helens. And anyone willing to help me will have their company name imprinted on the bike as an advertisement."
If you would like to sponsor John, you can contact him on (01744) 601613.
