NOW that it has become obvious that their public relations exercise on Hag Fold estate, Atherton has gone wrong, local councillors are attempting to insults residents, who quite rightly have objected to asylum seekers being 'dumped' against their wishes by an incompetent Jack Straw, among them.

From The Journal last week (January 27) it seems that once again councillors are being arrogant of local opinions. Remember not too long ago the proposed redevelopment of the Briarcroft site in Howe Bridge.

Councillors are elected to represent local people NOT outsiders, taking into account their views BEFORE decision making.

With Jack Straw admitting that at least 75% of asylum seekers are really economic migrants (a gross underestimation!) why should Atherton people accept them? No, the electors should make their views known - by voting out of office next May those councillors who would rather follow the Labour party line than reflect local opinion.
