SHOE FC had no trouble in securing a place in the semi- finals of the Garswood Trophies Hospital Cup.

A 5-0 drubbing of fellow St Helens Star Premier Division side Pilkington Reserves, means they now face Division Three outfit College St Helens.

The Shoe's handsome 5-0 win was created by goals from Carl Chisnall (2), Stevie Pinder, Dave Rigby and John Grady.

Meanwhile, the Open Age Inter League's vital Group One game versus Blackburn Combination will take place on Monday, February 7 at Hoghton Road. Kick off 7.45pm.

All squad players, as selected, will meet at ground at 6.30pm.

In Combination games last weekend, Mark Carrigg (3) plus an own goal gave Penlake Juniors a much needed Premiership win 4-1 at East Sutton Labour, despite an Anthony Johnson goal giving the East Sutton side an early start.

Child Reserves demolished a game Carborundum team 6-0 with goals from Frank Jeffers (2), Ian Moore (3) and Ken McMillan. Carr Mill's Gary Ball grabbed five goals and Martin Hynes four with others coming from Shaun Tickle, Steve Dearden, Rob Stroud and Paul Mangan in a 13-0 home stroll against a young Prescot Leisure Reserves outfit. Ian Murphy found the net for Gerard Arms but they surprisingly went under 1-2 at home to Haresfinch Social in a shambolic display.

Division One leaders Nutgrove won 2-1 at Sportsmans with goals from Tony Jonesand Brian Langshaw. Anth Burgess replied. Paul Farrell's goal was not enough for Billinge who were beaten 1-2 at home by Chestnut Lodge. Andy Tibbins and Dave Fenney goals were responsible for Junction's 2-0 win over Clock Face Miners Welfare. Division Two league leaders Clock Face Miners Welfare Reserves march on with a 4-1 defeat of Bull and Dog, John Roby (2), Steve Parr and Mark Gavin goals counting. Earlestown (Wellington) have only themselves to blame, being 3-1 up but blowing it to go down 3-4 to visitors Billinge Reserves, Kenyon (2), Paladino and Derbyshire goals doing the damage.

Green Dragon at last came good with a 5-2 comfortable home win over Bowling Green, but Gerard Arms second string went one better than their senior side by just heading home 2-1 with two from Richie Harrison, against Pilkington A.

Goals from John Forrester and Darren Derbyshire could not help Top Nogs as they sank to a 2-5 home beating by Broad Oak.

On Sunday in the Sunday Division, York Reserves redeemed their second placed spot with an all-action 1-0 win at York, settled by Ian Lion, with a penalty in the last quarter. Victoria whipped Brown Edge 0-6, but East Sutton Labour went under 8-3 at Owens Corning. Penlake hit form with a 6-2 beating of Bleak Hill Rovers, and in a terrific tussle at Huyton, Rose and Crown just held out to win 4-3 over rivals and last terms champions, Ex Services (Rainhill).

In the Second Round of the Northern Cup Competition, Sidac Social, fly the Combination flag, are drawn away at Whinney Hill FC from Accrington.
