Dover 3 Morecambe 1
MORECAMBE have a break this weekend. After ten games without a win maybe it's just as well.
The Shrimps were due to play Doncaster Rovers on Saturday - but the Yorkshiremen have been forced to postpone.
The break will mean the Morecambe players can work on improving their state of mind - not least at a special training day at Christie Park on Saturday.
They might work on reducing the number of defensive errors after this match. Dover - second in the league - scored their first on 15 minutes after Mark Wright failed to clear the ball on the left. It was picked up by Tony Browne who crossed to give Dave Morrison a clear header from just six yards out.
Morecambe fought back and held their own until five minutes in the second half when Dover were awarded a penalty. Defender Andy Farrell was adjudged to have knocked over Joff Vansittart and Lee Shearer scored with the resulting penalty.
Dover made it three on 65 minutes. Morrison stole in after another defensive mix-up in the Morecambe defence to score from close range. To their credit Morecambe didn't give up and went on to have their best spell in the match. They rewarded with a goal five minutes from time from Neill Hardy who headed home from close range. They could easily have scored on two separate occasions before that. Justin Jackson pulled a shot just wide and Dave McKearney forced a brilliant save from the Dover keeper.
But in the end it was another frustrating afternoon for the men from Christie Park and their travelling support.
Team: Banks, Fensome, Wright (Takano), McKearney, Farrell, Burns (Smith), Lyons (Eastwood), Drummond, Jackson, Hardy, Brown.
Morecambe's next match is away at Nuneaton Borough a week on Saturday.
The match against Doncaster was postponed due to the club's commitments in the FA Trophy.
