ST HELENS Schoolboys have claimed two notable scalps.
The under 11s A team beat Skelmersdale in the Merseyside League 1-0. Scorer was David Connolly and man of the match was skipper Greg Tansey.
This was followed last Saturday by a battling 3-2 victory at Walsall. The home team took a 2-0 lead with the strong wind assistingtheir attacks. Jamie Anderson scored from a corner before half-time to reduce the deficit.
After the break St Helens had the advantage of the breeze and Jonathan Skerritt equalised with a clever hooked shot. The
winner came from a great team move which captain Greg Tansey finished off. Man of the match was Philip Eden.
The B team also travelled to Walsall and took the lead through Luke Crawford. But the second half saw St Helens lose their discipline and Walsall took advantage to score twogoals, the winner coming in the last few minutes. Stuart Roberts and Mark Watson were the outstanding players.
