A FLEETWOOD soldier was today recovering in Kosovo.
Not from injuries, luckily, but recovering broken down cars and trucks for the army.
Peter Moorhouse (pictured) is one of the engineers responsible for keeping vehicles on the road in the war-scarred country.
"We're like the AA but in green combats," explained Peter.
"I drive a large recovery vehicle and I've been to most parts of Kosovo recovering vehicles. The locals are fascinated by my 16-tonne truck and often offer to help.
"Usually by the time the vehicle is winched up there is quite a crowd and I feel as though I am on stage."
Peter, who is 27, is a former pupil of Fleetwood High School and joined the Army in 1993 after working in the local Superdrug store. His mother still lives in the area and he is looking forward to seeing her again when he returns home next month.
"Working out here has been a real experience and despite what they have been through the locals are really friendly, and the kids are great.
"They are so delighted when I give them some biscuits or sweets and it makes me realise how lucky we are back at home in the UK."
