AN American woman is searching for long lost relatives in the Leigh area.
Barbara Ann Naylor, of Rhode Island, wants to contact relatives of her maternal grandparents who emigrated to the United States in 1918.
She says her nana's name was Florence Jackson. She was born in Leigh, and was the daughter of John Haspell and Jane (Ratcliff) Haspell-Gaskell.
She was married to Frank Jackson but does not know the names of her grandfather's family.
Barbara said when the family sailed for the US, they had an infant son, James.
They settled first in Rhode Island and then in nearby Massachusetts and had three more children, the youngest of whom is Barbara's mother.
Grandfather Frank Jackson died when her mother was only nine years old and Uncle James a few years ago.
Her nana died in 1989 at the grand old age of 92.
Barbara said: "It is my hope that someone reading this will recognize a name, and the results will lead me to finding some long lost cousins, no matter how distant! "
Babara can be contacted at the following address: Barbara Ann (Pelchat) Naylor, 463, Durfee Hill Rd, Chepachet, Rhode Island, USA 02814. Email: bnayl@ids.net
