IN her spare time this teenage girl from the area is one of the most formidable swordsman in the whole of the North West. But, by day, modest Kirsty Burgmans, 15, of Morecambe High School, plays down her numerous achievements in the sport.
Just last week Kirsty won the North West under 17s epee and under 16s foil in the regional Cheshire schools competition. But for modest Kirsty's it's all just a bit of fun.
"They used to do it at Morecambe High but they stopped so we joined the Morecambe Young Blades Club," she said. "We meet on Thursday and Friday nights and it's really enjoyable."
