THE report into the bus crash which killed a student in Lancaster is in the hands of the CPS. The service was handed the report after extensive investigations were completed this week. The crash at the junction of Parliament Street and Bulk road killed 18-year-old James Raw from Yorkshire who had left home for the first time just two weeks before.
The Governor of Lancaster Castle Prison is considering a report into allegations of assault by two prison officers. The pair were suspended last December following an assault on a prisoner. The Governor of Preston Prison was called in to conduct an inquiry and his report is now at Lancaster Castle for consideration.
Councillors have agreed that Lancaster Citizens Advice Bureau receive a £5,000 cut in its grant rather than the £10,000 proposed in the budget committee last week. Alarmed CAB bosses had said a £10,000 cut would make it impossible for them to do their job. A council spokesman said that efficiency savings were needed.
