MONEY raised when eight local choirs raised their voices in a millennium concert has been passed on to a local charity.

A cheque for £3,120 was presented to staff at Pendleside Hospice, Reedley.

The fund was boosted by a raffle organised by the hospice's Colne and Nelson fund-raising group during the concert. The event, on January 22 at Colne Municipal Hall, was the second in a series of four concerts organised in aid of the hospice by Nelson Arion, one of the choirs who took part in the millennium event.

The next concert will feature the world famous Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band at the Municipal Hall, on May 13.
