THE husband of a dead Whitefield woman has been arrested by detectives.
Mr Albert Southwood is assisting with police inquiries and has been released without charge on bail pending the results of a post mortem and forensic tests carried out on his wife, Linda.
The 52-year-old's body was discovered at her home in Pinfold Lane last Friday morning (Jan 28). It is understood she had suffered bruising and other injuries.
The cause of death is as yet unknown although the police have not ruled out murder.
Detective Inspector Jane Antrobus is leading the investigations.
She said: "We are awaiting the results of forensic examinations which were carried out on the woman over the weekend."
