LEIGH RMI reached the semi-finals of the Lancashire FA Marsden Trophy with a 2-1 win at Accrington.
But at what cost will only be determined in the fullness of time.
For the second time in 18 days they finished the game with only nine men after Eddie Turkington saw red for violent conduct and Neil Matthews received two yellow cards.
It is the third time this season Turkington has had first use of the soap and manager Steve Waywell may have to enter the transfer market to shore up the centre of defence. "We could have a crisis at the back," said Waywell. "We will take the appropriate action when the time comes."
RMI cruised clear against a dispirited side, who looked likely to be on the wrong end of a thumping.
Dave Ridings and Matthews notched the goals.
But the expected landslide didn't materialise. "We stopped playing and gave them a lifeline with a soft goal right on half-time," added Waywell.
Good defence and good luck then held RMI together.
