FOOTBALLING stars of the 50s and 60s gathered at Turf Moor last night to pay tribute to Burnley legend Jimmy McIlroy.
More than 300 people attended the Jimmy McIlroy Tribute Dinner, held in the James Hargreaves North Stand. Guests included ex-Burnley players Jimmy Robson, Willie Irvine, Andy Lochhead and Joe Baker, as well as former Blackburn players Ronnie Clayton and Bryan Douglas.
But the big name of the night was former Welsh captain John Charles, one of the first British players to make the move to Italy by joining Juventus.
The evening, which included a video of Jimmy McIlroy's memorable footballing days, was compered by Mick Docherty, with guest speaker Tommy Docherty.
A cartoon of Jimmy McIlroy, which he signed on the night, was auctioned by a member of the Shooters Clarets Supporters Club, Chris Robinson.
