CRIMINALS in Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale have responded to the police's "give yourself Up" appeal.
Pennine police urged offenders to turn over a new leaf for the new year - and now they report the campaign resulted in 25 people surrendering themselves to the law.
People who had committed offences, who were wanted by the law or who had outstanding matters with the courts, were encouraged to give themselves up during a two-week operation.
Although not an amnesty, police said those who came forward under Operation New Leaf would be given every possible credit for their actions.
Inspector John Clucas said some people who had left the Pennine area but who were still wanted here, heard the publicity and came forward. Quite a few people who thought they were wanted but weren't contacted us and we were able to put their minds at rest."
