A PLUMBER who drove off after a row with his wife, has paid the price with a 12-month driving ban.
Burnley magistrates heard how Robert Haigh, 47, was found by police sitting in a van in a park car park. He told them: "I have just come out to avoid the missus."
The lowest of two breath tests showed 51 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
Haigh, of Eagle Street, Nelson, admitted driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £150, with £60 costs and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
Bill Berry, defending, said Haigh he co-operated fully with police. He pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
