A 22-YEAR-OLD man banned from driving until he had passed an extended driving test was caught behind the wheel.
Blackburn magistrates heard that a subsequent breath test showed that David James Redwood was slightly over the limit.
Redwood, of Church Lane, Mellor, was put on probation for 12 months and ordered to do 100 hours community service after pleading guilty to driving with excess alcohol, without insurance and while disqualified.
The court heard that he gave a reading of 46 against the legal limit of 35. Redwood agreed to be referred to the drink-driver rehabilitation course through which he can earn up to 25 per cent off his 12 month disqualification.
Kevin Preston, defending, said the car belonged to the other man in it at the time of the offence. "That man had had far too much to drink and my client foolishly took the risk and drove," said Mr Preston
